The story of how I started my blog.
My first ever post on this blog was written on July 3rd 2012 which was FIVE WHOLE YEARS AGO! I started gushing about books on the internet because as much as I adore my family and friends, they didn’t quite get my excitement over cover reveals and sequel announcements. So, thank goodness for bookish people on the net! Blogging is where I’ve met some fab friends, got the best book recommendations EVER, and attended amazing events
BTW, if you want you can see my very first post here. (BEWARE, it’s full of typos and very lacklustre photos!)
Advice for newbie bloggers.
Write bravely. It’s very easy to fall into the trap of writing very similar things to other bloggers, but you have to remember that you are unique, and wonderful, and have something special to offer to this community. The post I was the most terrified to post, about my disability and anxiety, has become my most popular post. I’ve had emails and comments from SO many lovely people who related to that post, who share my experiences, and it’s the most rewarding thing when that happens.
Make friends. Now, to start with, I found this difficult. I’m a bit of an introvert. But making blogging/author friends is THE BEST. Chat about books on twitter. Tweet your fav authors and tell them how much their writing means to you. Do tag posts and tag a few bloggers you adore. Be kind, and cheer other’s successes.
