2017 goals

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope you had a great end of year celebration, and I hope you don’t have too much of a headache this morning. 2017 means a new start, new aims and goals, and here are mine for the year ahead:

1 // Write Bravely

So, there’s this book I want to write, and to be completely honest, it scares me. I know exactly what I want to write, but every time I sit down to actually write it, I end up staring at a blank page for hours on end. I’m pretty sure I know why–this book is highly personal. Which is all the more reason to write it. In 2017, I’m aiming to put this fear aside and instead, write bravely.

2 // Read Diversely

we-need-diverse-booksThere have been a lot of debates in the blogosphere recently on diversity in books. I think it comes down to this: our world is diverse, and our literature should reflect that. In particular, I want to support #ownvoices authors by buying, reading and promoting their books this year.

3 // Get a Tattoo

So, I’ve wanted a tattoo for a while now (sorry mum!), and plans are afoot for a small bookish tattoo in 2017. My brother & I have plans of getting–not matching–but similar tatts together. FINGERS CROSSED I GET IT DONE!

So those are my 2017 goals, what are your goals this year?Β

  1. Happy New Year! Kudos to you for resolving to write bravely! It’s the hardest and best! Have you read Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way? It’s what helped me break through my self-imposed barriers. And I can’t wait to see what literary tattoo you pick 😁
Last year my goal/challenge was to try and get published once a month-I did better than I thought I would but this year I’m challenging myself something I can better control-submitting at least two creative pieces specifically in the children’s lit each month. I just submitted my first poem of the year to a magazine so wish me luck!

    1. Yay you– that’s such a cool goal. I wish you loads of luck (even though you probably don’t need it!) I haven’t but I will definitely check it out. Happy New Year!! πŸ™‚
