Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple. – J. K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

FUN FACT: Autumn has always been my favourite time of the year, and for me, September the first equals Autumn. And Autumn means crisp leaves, and cinnamon, and hot chocolate and cosy jumpers and Halloween, and fireworks and…Christmas!!!! Autumn gives me a spring in my step, it makes my heart whirl with happiness and I spend the season grinning. These are the things I love most about Autumn:
THING 1: Yesterday, my lovely dad (who had noticed the increasing amounts of book stacks in my room), brought and put up two extra shelves. I then spent two whole hours rearranging them by series, and how much I love them (SO OBVIOUSLY Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia and everything Roald Dahl ever wrote had pride of place). Reading in Autumn sort of seems extra magical – there’s nothing I like more than cosy-ing down with a warm blanket, a hot drink and a good book. I always seem to re-read my favourites at this time of year. Here are my new shelves:
THING 2: The weather. By the end of August I am fed up of heat (although to be honest this Summer has been awful!). That first frost, the first time you shiver at the cold, and the first time you wrap yourself up in a coat. Golden leaves and naked trees and the silver-y grey of the sky. I LOVE Autumn weather.
THING 3: HALLOWEEN. I love it. Pumpkins and ghosts and ghouls and witches. Watching the Nightmare before Christmas and Hocus Pocus and The Adams Family. Collecting sweets and planning my costume and JUST EVERYTHING!!!
So, those are the things that I adore about Autumn. I’m now going to cosy up on the sofa with CROWN OF MIDNIGHT & imagine that I boarded the Hogwarts Express this morning – they still take 22 year olds, don’t they??
