Listening to: 1989 by Taylor Swift. Love the entire album, but my favourites have got to be Out of the Woods, Style & Blank Space.
Watching: GIRLS & Stephen Fry Documentaries
Reading: Goth Girl and The Ghost of the Mouse – I’m undecided about whether I like this so far.
So on Friday, my mum turned fifty. She has practically been turning fifty for the entire month of October, having surprises and treats almost every weekend (and why not? If you can’t treat yourself on your birthday then when can you treat yourself?). She got tonnes of pressies, lots of balloons & so many flowers we don’t know what to do with them. We went out to dinner with our whole family (I debuted my new walking stick) & generally had an amazing weekend. Next week the bday celebrations continue with a spooky Halloween party & am am so excited about it!
I, unfortunately, am still pretty much housebound with my knee. This sucks. I never thought that 3 months after my dislocation I’d still be in pain and unable to walk much distance but I am. I never thought that been stuck inside my house, or having to be accompanied EVERYWHERE buy someone just in case my knee re-dislocated would be so demoralizing. And I never knew how much I would miss walking, catching the train, exercise and baths. BUT, there does come a point in any rubbishy experience that you stop feeling sorry for yourself and start appreciating life again. There are people in far worse positions then me, there are people will no help or support system and there are people that aren’t going to get better. I am lucky, I will get through this and when I do I am going to do something, anything, to raise money and awareness for people with conditions like mine.
On the plus side on being indoors, I am slowly starting to get out of my reading slump again. I recently read Lena Durhams book, NOT THAT KIND OF GIRL. It was beautifully written (Lena has definitely got that ‘it’ of talent) and endlessly interesting. However, the book kind of lost its way in places and the essays didn’t completely tie together. Overall though, I really enjoyed the book and have now become completely obsessed with GIRLS.
Also, the coolest thing that has EVER been given to me was given to me yesterday. I am slightly (and by slightly I mean completely and utterly) obsessed with pugs. They are the cutest dogs ever and I want one. I also love Christmas. And Christmas jumpers. So my friend combined my three loves and gave me this:
