Today’s participation post is to share a quote from a book we are currently reading, or to talk about a book that recently tugged at our heartstrings!
I am going to talk about this one:
This book is about Connor who is coping with his mum being really ill when a monster shows up at his house. As well as been beautifully illustrated, this book is written amazingly with the combined talent of Patrick Ness and Siobhan Dowd, who unfortunately passed away before she could complete the book. These are a few of my favourite quotes:
“Stories are wild creatures, the monster said. When you let them loose, who knows what havoc they might wreak?”
“The monster showed up just after midnight. As they do.”
“There is not always a good guy. Nor is there always a bad one. Most people are somewhere in between.”
This book is extraordinary. READ IT!
Todays challenge is book spine poetry or making a poem with the titles of books. Here goes!
The Book Thief,
A Monster Calls,
The Opposite of Fate
And Another Thing,
The Book of Lost Things.
I loved a Monster Calls. I literally sat for a good 10 minutes afterwards bawling.
Ahh me too – so beautiful!
This one leaves a lot of room for interpretation! Great work!
Aha Thanks! 🙂
I’ve been hearing loads about a Monster Calls, and I think I might have to get my hands on it quite soon! Your spine poetry is lovely, and I hope you’re having fun with the read-a-thon! Good luck! 😀
Thank you! – I LOVED A Monster Calls!
Great poem, I really liked it! I still have A Monster Calls to read, I’ve heard it’s really good so I’m looking forward to it.
