I looked through the previous Top Ten Tuesday’s and as soon as I saw this one I knew I HAD to do it!! Is it just me or does everyone want to name their kids after book characters?!
- September (Fairyland) – I ADORE this name, it’s so unique and cool and September is such a kick-ass character and I will be naming my first daughter September!!
- Rory (From Gilmore Girls) – I know Rory’s not strictly a book character, but she’s about as much a bookish figure as they come! I love the name Rory, but for a boy. Is that weird? I still love the name, and if I have a boy, he will be called Rory!
- Luna (Harry Potter) – my favourite HP character, her name is gorgeous
- Maia (Journey to the River Sea) – I loved this book as a kid! I think I attempted to get my parents to call me Maia for a little bit!
- Coraline (Coraline) – beautiful name, beautiful book
- Artemis (Artemis Fowl) – I don’t know why, but I love Arty’s name
- Matilda (Matilda) – My idol when I was growing up!
- Buttercup (The Princess Bride) – strange, but cute!
- Seraphina (Seraphina) – just GORGEOUS!
- Rudy (The Book Thief) – SO SAD!!! but love his name!
Although I’ve only read a few books from your featured names, I love how you’ve chosen quite unique ones. I also quite like Coraline and Matilda for children’s names.
I liked the topic you chose this week!

I picked Matilda, too! Such a great name! I like your choice of Rory for a boy’s name; I don’t think it’s weird at all.

Great post! I love the name Luna, too. Seraphina is a gorgeous name and Rory is cute…for a boy or a girl. I did top 10 books in my Spring ’13 TBR at Natflix&Books
I love all of these choices!! There are too many good names to choose from. I started thinking my favourite was Luna then I thought September is unique and then there was Artemis. Got to love Artemis because it works for both genders. I always loved this quote from the Artemis Fowl series: ‘About my name — Artemis — you were right. In London, it is generally a female name, after the Greek goddess of archery. But every now and then a male comes along with such a talent for hunting that he earns the right to use the name. I am that male. Artemis the hunter. I hunted you.’
Great list 😀
Ahh I love that quote – Artemis is the best! 🙂
