Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week we are listing the top ten books we read before we started blogging. Now, I must admit, although I was an avid reader before I started blogging, the reason why I started blogging because I was in serious book rut. I was just reading my favourite books again and again and again.
- The Harry Potter Series by J. K Rowling – I can’t count how many times I have read and re-read these books. They are, simply, amazing books.
- The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit by J. K Rowling – Again, a classic series and one that I will never tire of.
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S Lewis – I read this in my wardrobe hoping that I would get to Narnia (Yeah I was that kid).
So I read and re-read these three series until I was blue in the face. And, at the beginning of 2012, I was beginning to get tired of them (I know – how can anyone tire of HP?). So I slowly, but surely, began to branch out
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – I absolutely LOVED these books, and they really opened my eyes to other books. They also introduced me to Dystopian – One of my absolute favourite genres!
- The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness – I was lent this by one of my friends who said I HAD to read it. And I loved it – I desperately need to read the rest of the trilogy.
- The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket – This series is absolutely brilliant – completely snarky and sarcastic and a gem in the middle grade genre!
- The Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer – A protagonist that is so deliciously bad, but so likable at the same time. A great series and a original take on a old idea.
- The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – I am SO excited for the movie coming out later this year. The books are great – and I am desperate to read The Infernal Devices Series.
- The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan – My cousins introduced me to Percy Jackson and I fell in love. Such a great, light read and great world building.
- His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman – Another great series by a excellent author.
Laura 🙂
I’ve only made a little dent in the series of unfortunate events but they are such good fun. Great list
Thank you!! I know – one of my favourites!!
More and more I’m enjoying to read Middle Grade books… Something I never really read before being a blogger and I’m dying to start in The Series of Unfortunate Events. As well as The Chronicles of Naria.
We share Harry Potter on our lists this week, us, and pretty much the rest of the blogging community.. Haha.
