In my new years resolutions list I said that my writing resolutions were to write more flexibly and frequently and to finish my current project. Now, because I am fickle I’ve kind of added a belated new one to the list. I want to begin a publishing journey in 2013. I have always been terrified of putting my work out there and having a go at been published, partly I think because I’m young and people might not take me seriously. But this year, I’ve decided to turn over a new leaf – and if it goes well and I succeed, yay! But equally If it goes badly then I will have learnt things about publishing that I didn’t know before! So here goes (deep breath)…
In 2011, I participated in NaNoWriMo (The National Novel Writing Month). I didn’t finish the challenge then, but spent 2012 lovingly working on my little project and had 60,000 words of muddled up writing to swift through by September. I had a break whilst starting Uni but now I am in the midst of drafting and redrafting to my hearts content.
My project is about 50,000 words long at the moment. Its a middle-grade fantasy novel about a girl who steals a magic book and then finds herself in a different world having adventures!
So, in 2013 I want to finish my book, build up an author platform and start getting myself out there in the big scary world of the internet! I am going to aim to do a post every week about what stage I’m at and what I’m finding out! Its going to be every Wednesday and be called (very unoriginally) Writing Wednesday!
So I hope, lovely people who read my blog, that you will join me on my little foray into the world of writing/publishing and hopefully, by the end of 2013 I can say that I am on my way to getting a book out there!
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post!
