January to be read list!

Hi Guys, I hope January hasn’t been too big of a shock for you – I know it has for me! No more mince pies/turkey and tonnes of homework to do hit me hard! I have decided this year to do a monthly book forecast! Basically the books I’m planning to read in the next month! I am also planning to be much better at consistently doing book memes! Anyway, here goes with the books I’m reading this book.

fairylandThe Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente.

For the third time in the past year I am re-reading Fairyland #1. And as you can guess, I love it. I love re-reading, its one of my favourite reading things to do – you discover new things you glazed over the first time it was read. This book is whimsical and magical and September is such a great female character. I absolutely love these series of books and I definitely recommend for those who love their fairy tales and folklore. I’m about half way through this at the moment and loving it like I loved it the first time.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

good omensThis came in the post yesterday and I am itching to read it. I am not one of those people who is good at reading two books at once but I am seriously tempted to start reading it now! I really got into Discworld last year and I am really enjoying the series so far – especially Terry Pratchett’s humour – it takes a special kind of genius, I think, to make books laugh out loud funny. I am also head over heels in love with Neil Gaiman’s books – I am very excited to read his new novel that comes out this year! Anyhow, I think this book will be right up my street and I cannot wait to read and review it!

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

pride and prejudice

As part of my new years book resolutions to read more classics, I thought I’d start with a very well known book that I have never read, nor (shamefully) do I know much about. However, I am very excited to start reading Pride and Prejudice, and I am thinking of watching the Keira Knightley movie adaption, the Colin Firth BBC adaption and the Hank from VlogBrothers one from You Tube and completely and utterly immersing myself in the Jane Austen world

I hope you guys enjoyed my little too be read pile for this month! I’m not stretching myself a tonne as Uni work and editing may get in the way! Hope you’re all having a fantastic weekend!

  1. I definitely want to read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her Own Making, it looks so good! Pride and Prejudice just landed on my TBR list a few days ago. I’ve never read a Jane Austen book before, but my friend had me take a ‘Which Jane Austen Heroine Are You?’ quiz and a ‘Which Classic Literary Character Are You?’ and I got Elizabeth Bennet on both, so I’m curious about the book now, 🙂

    Happy reading!

    1. Fairyland is amazing!! One of the best books I’ve read in a long time! Ah wow – I love those quizzes. I’ve been eyeing up Pride and Prejudice for ages now – just never got round to reading it!!

  2. I’m aiming to read more classics this year too and Pride & Prejudice is definitely on my list, as I have also, shamefully, never read it! I decided I needed a little extra focus, so I joined the 2013 Back to the Classics Challenge (which has a lot of overlap with my 2013 Banned Books Challenge). At some point this year, I really want to get together my list of 50 Classics to read in the next five years so I can also join the Classics Club. I don’t know if you’re into these kinds of reading challenges or not, but I love them!
