In My Mailbox is a weekly book meme hosted by The Story Siren where bloggers post about books they’ve brought, borrowed or recieved. I have just a few books this week as I am supposed to be saving money for uni!
The Opposite of Fate by Amy Tan – My first book of the Rory Gilmore Book Club on Goodreads (Click here to find out more). I am really excited to read this one – I don’t read many memoirs and none written by a writer so I am glad to kind of branch out and begin read books that I wouldn’t usually read!
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley – Now I brought this for a couple of reasons. First, I was on tumblr and saw that it was Mary Shelley’s 215th birthday! So happy birthday Mary. Secondly I thought that I don’t read enough classics. And thirdly, it was £1.99 on Amazon. I was kind of put of from reading classic novels in A levels where we were forced to read Hard Times by Charles Dickens and then disect it within an inch of its life so that every bit of book magic had left it! I am, only now starting to want to read the classics again and Frankenstein is the perfect place to start!
The Fairytale Detectives (The Sisters Grimm book #1) by Michael Buckley – I stopped by Heffers (A book shop) this week and saw this book on the signed copy shelves! Now, as you know I cannot resist a good fairytale inspired book, and with the added promise of an author signature I just couldn’t pass it up! Imagine how disappointed I was though, when I discovered whilst flicking through the book that there was no signature in sight! I went back to Heffers and the lovely lady there check for ages but there had being some mistake and all of the signed copies were gone. I was a bit miffed, but I decided to keep the book – I just couldn’t resist and I really look forward to reading it!
Thats its for my books this week, guys! Hope you have all had a lovely weekend and I hope that the week ahead is full of good books.
