In My Mailbox is a weekly book meme hosted by The Story Siren where bloggers post about books they’ve brought, borrowed or recieved. This is my first time participating and I am really excited because I went on a bit of a book shopping spree this week!
Brought
John Connolly’s The Book of Lost Things – I stumbled across this book on Goodreads, read the blurb and immediately thought I have to have that. Its a fantasy story about a boy who has lost his mother, he retreats into his books and soon finds himself in a world that is basically a warped reflection of ours. It just sounded like a great read that was right up my street – fantasy and books – who could ask for more?
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake – This is a book that I would never normally read – as I said in my blog post a while ago a genre a would never normally read would be horror, and I very rarely read anything remotely scary or paranormal. I decided to break that habit when I saw Anna Dressed In Blood in the supermarket and fell in love with the spooky cover. I think that its a paranormal romance between a ghost killer and a ghost and I am actually very excited to start reading it (although it will be in the daylight!!)
A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz – I have being looking for a kind of darkish middle grade, fairytale themed books for ages now and this seems perfect. It follows Hansel and Gretel as they take a dark and myserious journey through theirs and eight other fairytales. I am so excited for this – I love fairytale retellings and books inspired by fairytales and I am hoping this will give me a little inspiration for my own middle grade fantasy manuscript I’m working on
Recieved
Petronella and the Trogot by Cheryl Bentley – I recieved this book from NetGalley and I would like to thank them Cheryl Bentley and Sparkling Books for allowing me to read this book. I am really excited to start reading this – it sounds magical, unusual and with a character called Petronella, right up my street!!
Hope your all having a lovely bank holiday weekend so far and I hope you’ve enjoyed my posts this week.
Happy Reading
