Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Its basically a list of top tens and this week is the top ten favourite books you’ve read during the life of your blog. I haven’t being blogging very often, but I think I’ve got ten so here they are…

  1. The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of her Own Making by Catherynne Valente – I think I mentioned in my review for this that it was my favourite book I’ve read this year. I absolutely love September, the plucky main character and the adventures and mishaps she gets up to in Fairyland. Its whimsical, funny and beautiful written and I cannot wait till book two is out. Review is here
  2. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak – I had never heard of this book when I fell in love with the title and cover for this book in Waterstones. Its such a great story, and Death is a brilliant narrator. Very original and I can’t wait to check out more of Zusak’s stuff. Review here
  3. Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett – I’m currently making my way through the Discworld novels and Wyrd Sisters is my favourite so far. It is influenced by Shakespeare’s various plays and is so funny. Granny Weatherwax is my favourite character! Review here
  4. Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver – The amazing sequel to Delirium, packed full of action, resistance, Lena going all Bear Grylls in The Wilds and with a little romance. Ends on a cliffhanger which left me wanting more. Review here
  5. Northern Lights by Philip Pullman – Lyra is basically me when I was ten – a tomboy that does’nt like her hair being brushed. She goes on an adventure filled with armoured bears and witches, fraught with danger from the evil Gobblers. Such a brilliant read. Review here
  6. Insurgent by Veronica Roth – I was so excited for this book. I’m in love with Four, theres danger, teenage relationship angst and a hot boy. What more could you want? Review here
  7. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick Riordan – Loved this, a really easy read jam packed with Greek Mythology. For a mythology geek like me, it’s almost heaven! Review here
  8. Alices Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll – A classic. Funny, Quirky and enjoyable over a hundred years after it was written. Review here
  9. A Game of Thrones by George R R Martin – A brilliant read for fans of fantasy. Can’t wait to start reading all the others in the series. Review coming soon.
  10. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – Curently reading this and I love it. A magical story – Review coming soon

  1. I started Game of Thrones years ago but all the death was too much for me. Favourite characters were constantly killed off. Grrrr Mr. Martin. But considering how much I love the TV series, I think I’ll give it another go. Great list.

  2. Lovely list. I’m so eager to read The Night Circus, especially since I’ve seen it on so many lists today. The Book Thief, and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland are two others I’ve had on my TBR for ages. I really enjoyed both Pandemonium and Insurgent too. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Eep, I love your list! Yes to The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland! I’m reading The Book Thief soon-ish so I’m sure that will make my list. I’ve been meaning to read Percy Jackson too.
